Churches

In addition to playing for holiday services, weddings, memorial services and special services, I can also help provide music for an entire church service.

I can provide a brass quartet to play all or most of the music for a Sunday service. For example, during the summer it can be difficult to scrape together a full choir or an accompanist. Or perhaps you’re preparing for a Christmas cantata and aren’t able to work up that difficult music and put together music for every other Sunday service. My brass quartet can provide music for the entire order of worship, including prelude, hymn accompaniment, and special music.

The brass quartet is ideally suited to this, for several reasons. The voices of the quartet (two trumpets, horn, and trombone or baritone) correspond to the SATB voices, making it perfect to accompany hymns. The size of the quartet is small enough to make it affordable and self-sufficient, but large enough to produce a full sound that can fill the sanctuary and be heard even in the back.

As I mentioned, the brass quartet can take care of the music for either the full service, or part of the service. If you would like to hire us to cover the full service, all we need is a list or category of hymns, perhaps the theme of the service, and the order of service, and we’ll take care of everything. This is perfect for when the music director is on vacation! Or if you just need us to take care of some of the music, we can provide a prelude, special music, and postlude, or something similar.

The repertoire we have available includes (but is not limited to) O Magnum Mysterium, Sheep May Safely Graze, selections from Handel’s Messiah, Ode To Joy, Amazing Grace, patriotic and holiday pieces, and arrangements of almost any hymn you could want.
